RAWA and Northumbria Police Bubble Match Correspondence

As per our previous statement, RAWA have made clear that we oppose the decision to designate December’s Tyne–Wear derby as a “bubble” fixture.
A bubble operation requires away supporters to travel on official, tightly managed transport — typically club‑organised coaches — with restrictions on routes, arrival times, and movement. It is an exceptional measure normally reserved for fixtures assessed as presenting significant risk.
Following the announcement, RAWA contacted Northumbria Police to establish why the decision was made and why supporters of both clubs were not consulted beforehand. To provide clarity and transparency for supporters, Northumbria Police have agreed that RAWA may publish the correspondence in full.
